Use

  • Are there any restrictions for displaying the remaining time?

    In some cases, there may be restrictions on the display of the remaining time.

    dfreeeze is connected to the parking heater via W bus:

    • Retrofitted parking heater: no restrictions on the display of the remaining time.
    • Parking heater installed ex works: Restrictions possible.

    dfreeeze is connected to the parking heater via switch input / switch output:

    • Parking heater is controlled via the app: no restrictions as long as the maximum runtime is not limited by the vehicle.
    • Parking heater is controlled via the handheld transmitter, status request is performed via the app: It is not possible to display the remaining time in the app.

    If you are not sure which bus system is used to connect the receiver to your parking heater, please ask your local dealer.

  • Are there any restrictions for temperature request?
    A temperature request can take place in the following two cases:
     
    • If the dfreeeze uses the W bus to communicate with the parking heater: Please note that, in this case, the temperature sensor may be connected only to the parking heater or only to the dfreeeze system. It is not permitted to operate more than one temperature sensor on the W bus.
    • If the dfreeeze uses the switch output to communicate with the parking heater: Please note that, in this case, a temperature sensor must be connected to the dfreeeze system.

    If you are not sure which bus system is used to connect the receiver to your parking heater, please ask your local dealer.

  • How can I renew my dfreeeze license

    You can renew your dfreeeze license directly in your dfreeeze app. The following payment methods are available: Paypal, direct debit, GiroPay and bank transfer.

  • How long can I continue to use dfreeeze and renew licences?

    Activated systems with a valid licence can still be used until 30. June 2026. The full range of functions of dfreeeze is retained until the end. You can continue to extend current licences as usual in the dfreeeze app. From the end of June 2023, 3-year licences will no longer be available for licence renewal. 12-month licences can still be purchased from July 2023 until 30. June 2025. After that, 9-, 6- and 3-month licences will still be available to extend existing licences until the end-of-service on 30. June 2026. Please note: dfreeeze licences expiring after 1. April 2026 cannot be extended afterwards! With a valid licence, you can still use your dfreeeze as usual until 30. June 2026.

  • When is manual mode switching possible?

    Mode switching (heating/cooling/automatic) may be specified by the vehicle. In this case, manual switching is not possible.
    The dfreeeze system is connected to the parking heater via W bus:

    • Retrofitted parking heater: Mode switching is possible
    • Parking heater installed ex works: vehicle-dependent

    The dfreeeze system is connected to the parking heater via switch input / switch output:

    • No manual adjustments possible in the app

    If you are not sure which bus system is used to connect the receiver to your parking heater, please ask your local dealer.

  • Why can I no longer order a new dfreeeze system from VW Accessories?

    After 10 years and many thousands of dfreeeze systems in use throughout Europe, the last unit from the final series has now been installed. There will be no subsequent production of new dfreeeze systems. Already activated systems with a valid licence can still be used until 30. June 2026. Licence extensions for active systems are still possible.

  • How can I test the app before buying it?

  • My parking heater is not reacting. Why is that?

    First, please check whether your receiver was already installed in the vehicle when you performed the initialisation.

    Initialisation was successful if the status display shows the message “Initialisation successful software version ############”.

    If the receiver has already been connected but you are still not receiving the message, that may be because the receiver cannot connect to the mobile phone network. In this case you should move your vehicle to a location with better reception. Then perform the initialisation again.

  • The app does not recognise my installed receiver!

    Once you have set up your vehicle in the app (see section 3.3 in the user manual), the status display should show the following message: “Initialisation performed software version xxxxxxxxxx”. This indicates that your dfreeeze receiver was installed correctly and has mobile phone reception.

    Please note that initialisation can only be successful if the receiver has mobile phone reception and a power supply.
